Pediatric patients up to 13 years of age in need of inpatient care will receive medical attention at Community Hospital of San Bernadino. Both Community Hospital and St. Bernadine are operated by Catholic Healthcare West, based in San Francisco. However, other pediatric patients in need of outpatient care will continue to receive medical attention in St. Bernadine’s emergency department, and the hospital’s baby and family center and neonatal ICU will continue operations.
According to the news report, consolidating the hospitals’ pediatric services can save $350,000. No employees will be let go as a result of the restructuring.
