The New York State Department of Health shut the hospital down Friday to “serious and ongoing issues” with its lab, which was deemed as an imminent risk to patients’ health and safety. Without a lab, the hospital cannot operate any emergency department or acute-care services. Eighteen patients were transferred to other hospitals in the area.
Hospital Administrator Charles Conole said the executive team is working on a correction plan. Until the state department approves its plan, a limited number of services will be available at E.J. Noble, including radiology services, MRIs, physical therapy and respiratory therapy. Its physician office will also be open, according to the report.
The hospital, which has about 245 employees, said it is still finalizing who will be laid off and when, according to the report.
