Clinton campaign releases physician's letter: 4 things to know

Following Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton's pneumonia diagnosis, her campaign released a letter Wednesday from her physician, Lisa Bardack, MD. Here are four updates on Ms. Clinton's health.

1. The note says Ms. Clinton has "mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia," according to The Washington Post. A non-contrast chest CT scan conducted Friday confirmed this diagnosis and Ms. Clinton is approximately halfway done with her antibiotic treatment. Ms. Clinton has also previously received two pneumonia vaccinations, Prevnar and Pneumovax, according to the report.

2. Ms. Clinton is otherwise a healthy 68-year-old woman, according to Politico coverage. Dr. Bardack reported Ms. Clinton has low cholesterol and does not take statins. She also has seasonal allergies and takes thyroid medication and a blood thinner, according to the report. "She is recovering well with antibiotics and rest. She continues to remain healthy and fit to serve as President of the United States," Dr. Bardack's note reads, according to the Los Angeles Times.

3. Most of the information included in the letter is not new. A two-page letter released in July 2015 recounts her hypothyroidism, seasonal allergies and medical history of deep vein thrombosis. That letter also detailed Ms. Clinton's 2012 concussion, which Dr. Bardack said was resolved within two months.

4. The Clinton campaign also plans to release medical information for Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who is running for vice president.
