Question: What technology has taken on greater significance or value during the pandemic?
Craig Richardville: TELE – Telemedicine, Telehealth, Teleservices, etc… All that is prefaced with “tele” will be removed from our terminology and will just become an expected normal practice for engagement, connected care, diagnosis, monitoring, care delivery, self-care, etc… Similar to what has happened in banking, retail and most any other industry, they do not use “tele” to describe their services, digital and online is just part of the new normal standard options for engagement and delivery of services.
Q: What is the most underrated trait of the best leaders?
CR: Calm & Cool: In these uncertain times, there is a lot of frustration, anxiety, fear, and other reactive behaviors and thoughts. It is important to bring a calm voice with controlled emotions and cool behaviors to be that rock for others and allow them to take a deep breath so we can collectively develop appropriate responses and togetherness when times like this can cause divisiveness and fraught.
Q: What fundamentals would you encourage your peers to revisit and refine when it comes to health IT and revenue cycle management?
CR: Patient First – Always: We have to continue to put the patient and consumer at the forefront of all of our thoughts, planning and execution and all of our work needs to continue to revolve around our patients and consumers.
