Question: How do you plan to pivot strategies this year to better serve patients?
Randy Davis: I so dislike buzzwords/phrases, but it’s true the “digital front door” has been a goal we need to live up to. Check in, forms completion, self-scheduling, reminder processes must improve.
Q: What technologies and innovations are you most excited about in healthcare right now?
RD: EHR vendors may finally be posed to truly help the access and documentation issues physicians have with the EHR systems they use. Natural language processing is getting close, using voice to access information will, I believe, become commonplace..
Q: What will the lasting legacy of COVID-19 be on the healthcare system?
RD: Hospital supply chain issues were terribly fragile and will be addressed, nurses have been undervalued, and telemedicine works, but is tied at the hip to reimbursement issues..
Q: What advice do you have for emerging healthcare leaders today?
RD: Learn details. You can’t simply be “anointed” as a leader. You have to learn the nitty gritty operational details, even as you guide strategic decision. One without the other is a prescription for a new job search..
