Mr. Alexander presented the proposal March 15 to the board of America’s Health Insurance Plan. The plan would fund cost-sharing subsidies for three years and pay for a $10 billion annual reinsurance program for three years while also providing states with additional waiver flexibility and expanding eligibility for copper health plans, according to Axios.
However, the plan also includes Hyde Amendment language that prevents insurers that cover abortions from receiving federal funds. Democratic lawmakers have opposed this language and Axios reports Mr. Alexander told the board that if Democrats supported the legislation it would “be law by the end of next week.”
