Allina CEO Volunteers to Forego Pay Until Nurse Settlement Reached

Minnesota’s Allina Hospitals and Clinics CEO Ken Paulus has volunteered to work without pay until the hospital system negotiates a settlement with its nurses, according to a report in the Star Tribune.

The move comes during the most contentious contract negotiations between 14 hospitals in the Twin Cities area and their 12,000 nurses in 25 years, according to the report.

Allina owns five hospitals involved in the negotiations. Mr. Paulus described his pay suspension as an effort to align the system’s leadership with the interests of its employees.
