The Committee on Research of the American Hospital Association has identified five strategic issues for hospitals through 2015: efficiency, new payment models, bending costs curves, care coordination and quality improvement for better health outcomes, according to an AHA report.
The forecast is based on an analysis of more than 50 performance indicators. Committee members initially identified 13 potential strategic issues, but voted on the top five. The purpose of the forecast is to look beyond the 2010-2012 AHA Research Agenda and focus on long-term issues facing hospitals and health systems.
