The Globe reports that most issues of “Safety Matters” tell stories of errors through interviews with staff and often patients, and detail the hospital’s response. Published online since January 2011, the newsletter will soon be distributed in print format to physicians’ lounges, conference rooms and other spots in the coming months, according to the report.
Erin McDonough, Brigham’s senior vice president of communication and public affairs, was quoted in the report describing the hospital administration’s goal of chronicling medical errors in a way that would resonate with physicians— “to make it memorable so that it would stick.”
