From shaping cost-conscious pharmacy strategies to driving innovation through automation, technology and policy development, chief pharmacy officers are also mentoring and empowering the next generation of pharmacy professionals.

Jon Albrecht. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Methodist Health System (Dallas). Mr. Albrecht has served as vice president and chief pharmacy officer for Methodist since 2018, and has served as a professor of pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He has more than 15 years of pharmacy leadership experience, having served in management positions since 1985. In his current role, Mr. Albrecht is responsible for overseeing pharmacy services for all Methodist Health hospitals, retail pharmacies and clinics.
Chad Alvarez, PharmD. System Pharmacy Director for Carilion Clinic (Roanoke, Va.). Dr. Alvarez has led initiatives at Carilion Clinic that have resulted in expanded ambulatory services, a new specialty pharmacy and the region’s only 24/7 retail pharmacy. His leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic was pivotal, as he led the vaccine task force and ensured tens of thousands in southwest Virginia were immunized. Dr. Alvarez has driven innovation by implementing Omnicell dispensing cabinets, anesthesia workstations and automated outpatient dispensing systems. He also launched Carilion Clinic’s first pharmacist-led tobacco cessation program and developed an accredited community pharmacy residency. In tandem with system expansions, including a new cardiovascular institute and cancer center, he continues to serve patients directly as a practicing pharmacist.
Lindsey Amerine, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer of Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Amerine is the chief pharmacy officer for Cleveland Clinic, having assumed the role in February 2024. Dr. Amerne comes to the system from Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health, where she most recently served as interim CPO and system executive of pharmacy. In her role at Cleveland Clinic, she leads a team of pharmacy professionals. Her biggest undertaking has been enhancing automation and technology in the pharmaceutical branch. Dr. Amerine is a prolific publisher, with peer-reviewed articles across multiple journals. She presents both in the U.S. and internationally on pharmacy practice topics with the aim of improving the industry’s standard of care. Dr. Amerine has received recognition by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in the form of “Best Practice”, “Excellence in Medication Safety”, and “Association of Community Cancer Centers Innovator” awards.
Eric Arlia. Vice President of Pharmacy Services for Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare. Mr. Arlia has shaped the pharmacy enterprise at Hartford HealthCare over two decades, culminating in a harmonized, systemwide operating model since 2018. Under his leadership, the specialty pharmacy program achieved 1,100% revenue growth and supports patients in over 50 clinics, while the ambulatory team now includes 35 pharmacists embedded in care settings. He led the development of a standardized pharmacy technology platform and achieved national best-practice utilization of dose error reduction software at over 95%. In addition, Mr. Arlia spearheaded expansions including an inpatient pharmacy, with another planned for 2025, and three infusion pharmacies. He also collaborated cross-functionally with finance and revenue cycle to create a specialized pharmacy reimbursement role, enhancing revenue integrity.
Elias “Eli” Ayoub, PharmD. Vice President of Specialty Pharmacy for LCMC Health (New Orleans). Dr. Ayoub is building LCMC Health’s specialty pharmacy services from the ground up, including a major new site at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. A results-driven leader, he has launched specialty pharmacy programs in Michigan, completed dual accreditations in under a year and designed a home infusion pharmacy from scratch. His experience spans regulatory compliance, informatics implementation and high-volume operations, including managing 27 retail locations. At a federally qualified health center in Boston, he led Epic “Willow Ambulatory” and automatic dispensing cabinet installations to modernize systems. Dr. Ayoub also serves as an Accreditation Commission for Health Care consultant, leveraging deep expertise in specialty standards and durable medical equipment.
Krist Azizian, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for Keck Medicine of USC (Los Angeles). In June 2023, Dr. Azizian became Keck Medicine of USC’s chief pharmacy officer, a role that entails the management of systemwide pharmacy operations. He also serves as chief pharmacy officer for Keck Medical Center of USC and executive director of health systems for the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Throughout his tenure at Keck Medicine, he has launched pharmacy quality initiatives and grown pharmacy services across the system, with a particular focus on the expansion of oncology services. Before coming to Keck Medicine, Dr. Azizian was director of pharmacy services at Providence Tarzana (Calif.) Medical Center.
Elie Bahou, PharmD. Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Providence (Renton, Wash.). Dr. Bahou brings pharmaceutical and business expertise to his work as chief pharmacy officer at Providence. In his current position, Dr. Bahou oversees the pharmaceutical strategy, governance and operational pharmacy services for the system. He leads employees in Providence’s mission to deliver excellent patient care. Dr. Bahou is the former senior vice president of OptumRX and former vice president of managed care, payer contracting and strategic business development for Cardinal Healthcare, where he provided strategic insights and leadership for 5,600 pharmacies.
Jennifer Bair, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy Services and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Prisma Health (Greenville, S.C.). Since 2022, Dr. Bair has served as Prisma Health’s vice president of pharmacy services and chief pharmacy officer. She is charged with strategic oversight for systemwide pharmacy operations, with the ultimate goal of coordinating and streamlining pharmacy services across its facilities. Dr. Bair is also helping to grow the system’s ambulatory services in order to enhance patient outcomes.
Randy Ball. Vice President of Pharmacy and System Pharmacy Officer at Texas Health Resources (Arlington). Mr. Ball serves Texas Health Resources as vice president of pharmacy and system pharmacy officer. He oversees all pharmacy initiatives and plays a key role in the distribution of vaccines, including the Covid-19 vaccine. He also supports the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy by offering administrative management rotation opportunities to the pharmacy students.
Bob Beacher. Chief of Shared Clinical Services at Fairview Health Services (Minneapolis). Mr. Beacher leads one of the nation’s most expansive and innovative pharmacy enterprises, overseeing 26 retail pharmacies, home infusion and specialty services at Fairview Health. Under his leadership, Fairview’s home Infusion program became the first to integrate with Epic, streamlining care delivery and access. Initiatives that he has spearheaded, like “Fairview Link” and custom health coaching, have revolutionized digital patient engagement in specialty care. In 2024, Mr. Beacher launched Fairview Pharmacy Solutions, a business arm supporting other systems in pharmacy strategy and infrastructure. He also doubled participation in the medication therapy management program, now serving over 25,000 patients across 20 disease states.
Chuck Beams. Chief Pharmacy Officer for East Alabama Health (Opelika). Mr. Beams provides dual leadership of pharmacy and laboratory services at East Alabama Health, focusing on regulatory excellence, clinical collaboration and systemwide optimization. He has aligned medication management with organizational strategy, uniting multiple departments under a shared vision of safe, efficient care. Mr. Beams is known for integrating pharmacy services into interdisciplinary initiatives, enhancing patient safety and service quality across inpatient and outpatient settings. As past president of the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists, he has represented over 1,100 pharmacists, championing professional standards and advocacy.
Ann Byre, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy and Laboratory Officer for Allina Health (Minneapolis). Dr. Byre has shaped pharmacy services at Allina Health into a cornerstone of systemwide patient care and fiscal sustainability. She led the creation of a specialty pharmacy with 6000% growth in monthly revenue and implemented a biosimilar conversion program saving $6 million in combined drug and care costs. Dr. Byre has also enhanced population health outcomes by embedding pharmacists into care teams and launching Allina’s award-winning diversion prevention program. Her responsibilities now span both pharmacy and laboratory services, and she reports directly to the COO. She is an influential national voice through her presidency of the Minnesota Pharmacists Association and advisory roles with academic institutions.
Madeline Camejo, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer and Vice President of Pharmacy Services for Baptist Health South Florida (Coral Gables). Since 2018, Dr. Camejo has revolutionized pharmacy services at Baptist Health South Florida, expanding ambulatory programs, enhancing acute care services, and leading Covid-19 pharmaceutical planning and vaccination efforts. She has built a comprehensive retail and specialty pharmacy infrastructure, strengthened the 340B program and planned a state-of-the-art corporate pharmacy hub. Dr. Camejo is also known for mentoring students and residents in administrative rotations. Her blend of clinical acumen and operational foresight has earned her the title of “Top Chief Pharmacy Officer of the Year” by the International Association of Top Professionals for 2025. With over 25 years of career experience, she brings expertise in informatics, business and healthcare finance.
William Carroll, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer for Hackensack Meridian Health (Edison, N.J.). Dr. Carroll has helped centralize governance, standardize policies and expand pharmacy services across the 11-hospital Hackensack Meridian Health. In 2024 alone, he launched new meds-to-beds and retail pharmacies, created a drug diversion prevention program, and raised over $70,000 through a new pharmacy foundation. His efforts have resulted in policy harmonization across 80% of the network and millions in operational savings. Dr. Carroll also leads collaborations with the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and population health teams, ensuring pharmacy supports research, education and community outreach. His vision extends nationally through his professional affiliations and industry advisory boards.
Betty Chan, PharmD. Senior Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Buffalo, N.Y.). Dr. Chan oversees safety, quality and adherence to standards and regulations across pharmacy operations for Roswell Park, which was founded in 1898. Since joining Roswell Park last year, she has deepened her clinical focus on immunotherapy, cell and gene therapy, and specialty pharmacy services, with special interest in developing strategies that support oncology site-of-care transformation, options for subcutaneous delivery of pharmaceuticals, and the impact of community delivery of bispecific T-cell engager therapy, an emerging immunotherapy approach that directs T cells to target cancer cells. In her prior roles, Dr. Chan spent nearly 20 years on the faculty at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, developing curriculum and leading the residency training program. During her time with the Harris Health System in Houston, she was the founding residency program director for postgraduate year two oncology and was project lead in ambulatory quality improvement. She lectures internationally, shares insights on prominent expert panels and presents work at major meetings.
Kelley Curtis, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at St. Luke’s Health System (Boise, Idaho). Dr. Curtis has been with St. Luke’s since 2017, joining as chief pharmacy officer. Previously, she served as vice president of the population health pharmacy program at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Mo. She specializes in driving and supporting continual growth, reducing costs and delivering safe, patient-oriented pharmaceutical care. She has experience managing budgets of over $300 million. She has also led St. Luke’s in lobbying for healthcare legislation, implementing post-merger pharmacy EHR and upgrading pharmacy technologies, all while maintaining high levels of service and regulatory compliance.
Charles Daniels, PhD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at UC San Diego Health. Dr. Daniels is chief pharmacy officer for UC San Diego Health, where he manages all pharmacy services across the system. He is responsible for the oversight of inpatient, clinic, ambulatory, specialty medication, and home and infusion IV services. He is deeply involved in the creation of pharmacy transitions of care programs. He is also the associate dean of professional practice at the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He assumed both roles in 2004 after serving as chief of pharmacy for Bethesda, Md.-based NIH Clinical Center for nine years. He is interested in pharmacoeconomic benchmarking’s impact on quality improvement and cost reduction, as well as technology’s influence on safety in the medication process.
Nilesh Desai. Chief Pharmacy Officer at Baptist Health (Louisville, Ky.). In March 2020, Mr. Desai became Baptist Health’s inaugural chief pharmacy officer. He leads the eight-hospital system’s pharmacy operations and retail pharmacies. Previously, he held several leadership roles at Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health, including administrator of pharmacy and clinical operations. He also supported the education of upcoming pharmacists via a program preceptorship for the pharmacy residency program and a clinical adjunct professor position with the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and Massachusetts School of Pharmacy. His roles have allowed him to master technology integration, training, medication management and more.
Danielle DiBari. Senior Vice President of Business Operations, Chief Pharmacy Officer, and Chief Procurement Officer for NYC Health + Hospitals. Dr. DiBari unifies pharmacy, supply chain and business operations for the nation’s largest public health system, driving systemwide transformation through integrated technologies and enterprise tools. She led major upgrades across NYC Health + Hospitals, including smart hospital beds, barcode medication safety systems, and a new pharmacy management platform that fills nearly 2 million prescriptions annually. These innovations have reduced medication errors, improved access and enabled significant new revenue streams through third-party reimbursements. Dr. DiBari also expanded vendor diversity and strengthened supply chain resilience, earning national recognition for equity and efficiency.
Jordan Dow, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Froedtert Health (Milwaukee). Dr. Dow became vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Froedtert in July 2022. He accepted the role after spending six years as regional pharmacy director for Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire (Wis.), where he oversaw five community hospitals. His current position marks a return to Froedtert, as his first post-graduation leadership position was clinical pharmacy manager at Froedtert Hospital. He went on to serve as manager of medication utilization and then director of the center for medication utilization and finance at Froedtert Health before assuming his role at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Dow is a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
Carrie Dunford, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer and Vice President of Clinical Services at Intermountain Health (Salt Lake City). Dr. Dunford has served Intermountain Health since April 1999, when she began working as a clinical pharmacist. Since then, she has held various pharmacy leadership positions at the system, becoming chief pharmacy officer in November 2021 and assuming the additional role of vice president of clinical services in May 2023. One of her main priorities is providing patients with high-quality care for affordable prices.
Patrice Dupart, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy and Apothecary-in-Chief at New York-Presbyterian (New York City). Dr. Dupart has demonstrated excellence in pharmaceutical care at New-York Presbyterian since 2018. She leads 10 hospitals containing 4,100 inpatient beds, in addition to ambulatory clinics. She leads over 1,000 pharmaceutical employees in pursuit of the highest level of patient safety and care. In her role as vice president of pharmacy and apothecary-in-chief, Dr. Dupart strives to meet the system’s goals by advancing innovative and patient-centered clinical care, servicing the needs of the community, educating the next generation of healthcare professionals and developing groundbreaking research.
Greg Eilinger, PharmD. Director of Pharmacy for Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (Paramus, N.J.). Dr. Eilinger manages pharmacy operations for the largest hospital in New Jersey and the state’s biggest nursing home, ensuring continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient and long-term care settings. He modernized the outpatient pharmacy with customer-friendly renovations and introduced robotic automation, reducing prescription fill times significantly. Dr. Eilinger supports key programs like medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders and manages the 340B and charity care programs at the safety-net facility. He also serves on quality and clinical research networks, including the NJ Health Care Quality Institute and HIV Prevention Trials Network.
Michael Evans. Vice President of Enterprise Pharmacy and Chief Pharmacy Officer for Geisinger (Danville, Pa.). Mr. Evans leads strategy and administration for Geisinger’s enterprise pharmacy service. Under his leadership, the integrated care delivery system implements a collaborative pharmacy practice model for acute and chronic disease management, allowing patients to benefit from multidisciplinary care. Mr. Evans’ accomplishments include a restructure of system pharmacy entities for more patient-centric care, a provider-system partnership that resulted in increased affordability for patients, and operational enhancements that led to cost savings for the system.
Steve Fijalka, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for UW Medicine (Seattle). Dr. Fijalka, UW Medicine’s chief pharmacy officer, is an expert in health system pharmacy, medication safety, and pharmacy practice and research. He is deeply involved in the system’s distribution of medication and vaccines, most notably heading the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine during the pandemic. Along with leading the system’s pharmacy services, he is the associate dean of the UW School of Pharmacy and an affiliate associate professor in the department of pharmacy.
Russ Funk, PharmD. CEO of Pharmacy Services at Banner Health (Phoenix). As executive of Banner Health’s pharmacy services since 2018, Dr. Funk leads more than 1,600 employees across the six states Banner Health serves. He oversees the pharmacies for Banner Health’s 33 hospitals, 15 retail pharmacies, 4 specialty pharmacies, home delivery pharmacy, home infusion pharmacy, home medical equipment, ambulatory pharmacy and managed pharmacy services. With extensive healthcare leadership experience in the field, he focuses on innovation to improve patient and caregiver quality of life. In 2025, for example, Banner Pharmacy Services is opening its first ambulatory infusion service line to expand services in the community. Dr. Funk is highly experienced in leading operations, sales, marketing and business development activities and teams. He has been instrumental in increasing revenue growth, operational efficiency and market share. While he has held a leadership role at the health system, Banner Pharmacy Services bettered its discharge prescription script capture rate from 18% to 76% and grew revenue by 320%. He is also well known for identifying opportunities, developing and implementing strategies, creating new products and developing strategic relationships within complex organizations.
Amy Gallagher, PharmD. Vice President of Operations at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Gallagher has been a leader in pharmacy at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for more than 25 years. In her current role, she has created a truly integrated comprehensive pharmacy program, advancing system-centered oversight of purchasing, technology, innovation, clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, policies and procedures, and contracting. Her strategic vision enabled the opening of the system’s specialty pharmacy, retail pharmacy and centralized pharmacy prior authorization program in 2019. Dr. Gallagher has facilitated continual year-over-year growth of pharmacy operations at CHOP to support patient pharmaceutical needs across the continuum of care and has created opportunities for cross-departmental care model changes that enhance the patient and employee experience. Under her tenure, CHOP’s pharmacy prepared the first FDA-approved gene therapy, Luxturna, for the first administered patient dose in 2017. Dr. Gallagher is an active advocate and voice for advancing pediatric care, focusing on increasing availability and access to pediatric-specific medications and services. She holds leadership positions and member board seats focused on pharmacy advances and safe patient outcomes.
Tom Greenlee, PharmD. Senior Director of Pharmacy Services at University of Missouri Health Care (Columbia). Dr. Greenlee has more than 20 years of experience as a pharmacist and joined University of Missouri Health Care in 2018 as an outpatient pharmacy supervisor. In his more than five years with the health system, he has risen through the ranks to lead its pharmacy services. Under his leadership, the system’s pharmacy service line has seen increased employee engagement and consistent delivery of exceptional customer and patient service.
Amy Gutierrez, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at John Muir Health (Walnut Creek, Calif.). Dr. Gutierrez is the chief pharmacy officer for John Muir Health, overseeing pharmacy practice, strategy and policy across the health system. She leads strategies to improve medication access and quality and leverages the value of pharmacists to drive improved health outcomes. Previously, she served as the chief pharmacy officer for UCHealth in Denver and as senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer for Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente’s national pharmacy program. She has also served as the chief pharmacy officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. She is a clinical associate professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and an adjunct assistant professor of clinical pharmacy at the USC School of Pharmacy in Los Angeles and at Chapman University’s School of Pharmacy in Irvine, Calif.
Andre Harvin, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for Cone Health (Greensboro, N.C.). As chief pharmacy officer for Cone health, Dr. Harvin leads the team in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medications. He plays a major role in the establishment and growth of Cone Health’s direct to consumer pharmacy business through the establishment of Cone Health Community Pharmacy locations. He has been heavily involved in how the system uses technology to better meet the needs of health care consumers. Dr. Harvin joined Cone Health in 2019 as a director of pharmacy for oncology services, was promoted to executive director of pharmacy oncology in late 2021, and was tapped as chief pharmacy officer in June 2023.
Chad Hatfield, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at UC Davis Health (Sacramento, Calif.). As vice president and chief pharmacy officer for UC Davis Health, Dr. Hatfield oversees 13 pharmacies, acute and ambulatory clinical services, 39 pharmacy residents and 500 support staff. He stepped into the chief pharmacy officer role in August 2018, along with his concurrent role as assistant dean of the UCSF School of Pharmacy in San Francisco. He is board certified in pharmacotherapy and has served in formal leadership roles since 2009.
Vincent E. Jackson, PharmD. Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Advocate Health (Charlotte, N.C.). Dr. Jackson has served as the chief pharmacy officer at Advocate Health since 2023, a continuation of his position as CPO of Advocate-Aurora Health in 2021. Before serving in his current role, he was the vice president of pharmacy service group at HealthTrust Performance Group as well as working for Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours as its vice president of pharmacy and clinical services. He has over 25 years of leadership experience in the pharmaceuticals field, and now leads pharmacy operations for a 67-hospital strong health system with over 5,000 pharmacy employees. As CPO at Advocate, he boasts an 89% satisfaction rate among patients who used pharmacy services. As Advocate’s pharmacy leader, Dr. Jackson oversees the effective collaboration between the pharmacies within the system, as well as proper communication between medical, supply chain, and finance staff.
Matthew Jenkins, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer for VCU Health (Richmond, Va.). Since assuming the inaugural chief pharmacy officer role at VCU Health in 2023, Dr. Jenkins has rapidly integrated pharmacy strategy into the broader organizational vision. His leadership has strengthened access in Virginia’s largest safety net hospital, expanding the specialty pharmacy program by over 50%, ambulatory retail pharmacy by more than 30% and doubling home delivery services. His focus on transitional care led to a systemwide medication history initiative and enhanced meds-to-beds programs, exceeding capture rate targets. Dr. Jenkins also oversees a broad portfolio of clinical operations beyond pharmacy, including radiology, lab and respiratory therapy, as interim senior leader for support and professional services. He gained deep operational experience and an expertise in pharmacy through his past roles at Charlottesville, Va-based UVA Health and Gainesville-based University of Florida Health.
Tim Jennings, PharmD. Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Sentara Health (Hampton Roads, Va.). Dr. Jennings has been with Sentara Health since 1996, where he started as the manager of the health system’s clinical pharmacy programs until 2002. He previously served as a clinical pharmacy specialist for the Veterans Administration, culminating in a pharmacy career spanning three decades. He has also served on the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee in various roles since 2006, as a member, chair and vice chair.
Jess de Jesus, PharmD. President of Pharmacy and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Beth Israel Lahey Health (Cambridge, Mass.). In his role, Dr. de Jesus leads the strategy, clinical, and business operations of Beth Israel Lahey Health’s pharmacy services, including 14 hospital pharmacy departments and the pharmacy corporation. He not only directs the advancement of system pharmacy services, but also the collaboration and alignment of the pharmacy to support the health system mission to provide extraordinary patient care. Under his leadership, the health system is establishing and expanding pharmacy services into home infusion, pharmacy benefit managers, central distribution, and the 340B drug pricing program.
Trisha Jordan, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (Columbus). As chief pharmacy officer, Dr. Jordan directs all enterprise pharmacy services. Her primary goal is to utilize education, innovation and research in support of patient-centric care delivery. Dr. Jordan’s work and research are helping to shape transformative pharmacy practice models that improve safety, quality and cost in medication use. Todd Karpinski, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at WVU Medicine (Morgantown, W.Va.). Nishaminy Kasbekar, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer for Penn Medicine (Philadelphia). Dr. Kasbekar began her career as a clinical specialist in infectious diseases at Penn Presbyterian before eventually becoming director of pharmacy, system director of pharmacy and chief pharmacy officer. In September 2023, she was promoted to vice president and chief pharmacy officer for the system. She has practiced in various pharmaceutical roles and contributed to a number of professional publications. She is also active president of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and past president of several other professional societies. Claudia Koreny, PharmD. Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Services for TMC Health (Tucson, Ariz.). Dr. Koreny has shaped TMC Health’s pharmacy landscape for decades, beginning as a volunteer. She now oversees inpatient and outpatient operations across four hospitals and 30 clinics. She played a critical role during the Covid-19 pandemic, managing a regional vaccine clinic that administered over 180,000 doses. Dr. Koreny spearheaded pharmacy integration following TMC’s acquisition of cancer clinics, preserving access for over 25,000 patients. When a national IV shortage hit, her quick action secured inventory and kept surgeries on track. Under her leadership, TMC’s retail pharmacy doubled its prescription volume after relocation, becoming a key resource for the community.
Dave Lacknauth, PharmD. Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at Broward Health (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Dr. Lacknauth steers pharmacy services across five hospitals and 10 clinics at Broward Health with strategic and operational precision. His restructuring of the 340B program produced $44 million in drug savings, while his specialty pharmacy initiative generated $75 million in top-line revenue. He also negotiated $22 million in automation contracts and optimized the pharmacy benefits management plan to add $10 million in annual cash flow. In tandem, Dr. Lacknauth launched initiatives to elevate care quality, including hiring board-certified pharmacists and integrating pharmacy into population health models. He recently opened a new on-site pharmacy at the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center, improving access for more than 10,000 children annually.
Bonnie Levin, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy Services at MedStar Health (Columbia, Md.). In her nearly 20 years with MedStar Health, Dr. Levin has served in multiple leadership roles for the pharmacy division. In her current role as vice president of pharmacy services, she leads the pharmacy enterprise across MedStar’s hospitals, outpatient pharmacies and ambulatory practices. Timothy Lise, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Atlantic Health System (Morristown, N.J.). Dr. Lise became Atlantic Health System’s vice president of pharmacy in November 2024. Prior, he became executive director of pharmacy services in November 2020, after nearly three years of serving as the system’s manager of clinical pharmacy services. Prior to that, he worked in the pharmacy department at Overlook Medical Center, part of Atlantic Health System, for almost six years.
Eric Locklear. Pharmacy Director for UNC Health Southeastern (Lumberton, N.C.). Mr. Locklear oversees a diverse range of pharmacy services at UNC Health Southeastern, including inpatient, outpatient, oncology and a medication assistance clinic. His leadership has enhanced services across multiple facilities, with a focus on reaching underserved populations through the pharmacy care clinic. Mr. Locklear has been pivotal in maintaining medication access and chemotherapy compounding for the region’s cancer patients. He assumed his current role of director in 2006 after serving as assistant director and clinical coordinator since 1990.
William Loeffler, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Kaleida Health (Buffalo, N.Y.). Michael Magee. Chief Pharmacy Officer for BayCare Health System (Clearwater, Fla.). With over four decades in the pharmacy field, Mr. Magee has shaped BayCare Health System into a national pharmacy leader. As Florida’s first ever chief pharmacy officer, he and his team expanded the system’s services to include a 503B compounding pharmacy and earned the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ “Best Practice Award” for transitions of care. Mr. Magee established the state’s largest pharmacy residency program, now spanning 14 hospitals. He has also mentored numerous healthcare leaders. Beyond BayCare, he has served as faculty for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and president of the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Dave Mangan, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for UMass Memorial Health (Worcester). Dr. Mangan brings a visionary and strategic mindset to UMass Memorial Health, where he directs a $400 million drug spend and leads over 500 pharmacy staff. Within his first 18 months, he launched a consolidated service center to drive cost savings and support future home infusion and delivery services, advancing patient-centered care at scale. He also expanded an ambulatory clinical service line fourfold, embedding pharmacists and advanced practice providers to manage complex drug therapies, enhance outcomes and generate revenue. Dr. Mangan earned the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists “Certified Pharmacy Executive Leader” credential in May 2024.
Brian Marden, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at MaineHealth (Portland). Dr. Marden has served as chief pharmacy officer for MaineHealth for nearly a decade. In this role, he oversees patient care delivery and offers administrative leadership for systemwide pharmacy services. He is integral to the creation and application of policies that support medication quality and safety. Dr. Mashni has built a comprehensive, systemwide pharmacy infrastructure at Mount Sinai spanning eight hospitals, multiple pharmacies, and advanced services like home infusion and ACO pharmacy care. She spearheaded the implementation of an integrated pharmacy automation system, unifying disparate workflows and systems into a standardized enterprise platform across multiple care sites. Scott McAuley. Vice President of Pharmacy and Lab Systems for Piedmont (Atlanta). Mr. McAuley is the strategic and operational leader for both pharmacy and lab services across the Piedmont system. He led the integration of 12 hospitals into a unified pharmacy structure, ensuring consistency, safety and efficiency across care settings. Mr. McAuley was instrumental in establishing a specialty pharmacy program and launching a pharmacy informatics and medication safety department. Beyond operations, he contributes nationally through leadership roles on the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists board and Pharmacy Technician Certification Board stakeholder advisory council. His community engagement includes serving on the board of a local clinic for underserved populations.
Jason McCarthy, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at Corewell Health (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Dr. McCarthy was named Corewell’s chief pharmacy officer in May 2023, joining the system from Minnetonka, Minn.-based United Health Group’s Optum Rx home infusion division, where he served as senior vice president and COO since 2021. There, he oversaw all operations across a national pharmacy footprint for the home infusion division, including pharmacy operations, nursing, revenue cycle, patient services and clinical programs. Karen McConnell, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at University of Michigan Health (Ann Arbor). Appointed in February 2024, Dr. McConnell brings over 20 years of clinical pharmacy and leadership experience to her role as chief pharmacy officer for Michigan Medicine and as associate dean for clinical affairs at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Ryan Mezinger. Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer for MetroHealth System (Cleveland). Appointed in March 2024, Mr. Mezinger brings nearly 20 years of retail pharmacy experience to his new role as senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer at MetroHealth. Since joining the system in 2015, Mr. Mezinger has helped transform its pharmacy department from a modest team of 50 employees and four pharmacies into a robust, patient-centered operation comprising over 425 employees and 12 patient-facing pharmacies with central fill facility. Under his leadership, MetroHealth adopted Epic’s pharmacy software to integrate prescription tracking into a comprehensive 360-degree care model and introduced a “meds to beds” program to ensure that patients leave the hospital with essential medications in hand. Mr. Mezinger also championed the use of AI to streamline the medication prior authorization process, subsequently reducing submission times from 18 hours to five minutes and improving approval rates by 15%. The team now captures over 60% of ambulatory prescriptions, ranking in the 99th percentile among Epic organizations. Mr. Mezinger earned the “Timothy D. Moore Pharmacy Management” award from the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy in 2024.
LeeAnn Miller, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health. Dr. Miller has grown within the Yale New Haven system since 2000, and has served in her current role for more than five years. Dr. Miller is responsible for pharmacy employees across Yale New Haven Health’s hospitals. In her more than two decades with the health system, her leadership has improved supply management systems, furthered collaborative relationships with physician and nurse leaders, and developed various teams.
Shawn Myers. Vice President of Pharmacy and Ancillary Clinical Services at Encompass Health (Birmingham, Ala.). Mr. Myers became Encompass Health’s vice president of pharmacy and ancillary clinical services in 2022. His primary focus is propelling the pharmacy and respiratory therapy practices forward for the system. To do so, he works collaboratively with the home office team, as well as regional and hospital leaders. Before his promotion to his current role, he served as the organization’s national director of pharmacy operations since 2016. Mr. Myers is part of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and chairs the pharmacy subcommittee for the Federation of American Hospitals.
Todd Nesbit, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Vice President of Pharmacy at the Johns Hopkins Health System (Baltimore). Dr. Nesbit manages the strategic planning and implementation of pharmacy services across the Johns Hopkins sites of care and oversees the establishment of facility policies, procedures and standardization systemwide. She leads an enterprisewide effort to standardize pharmacy practice, elevate operational efficiency, advance models of care, and embrace a unified system strategy across a pharmacy workforce of more than 1,100 employees with annual drug spending exceeding $1.5 billion. Under her leadership, Mass General Brigham Pharmacy is designing and implementing a systemwide infusion strategy and transformative ambulatory care models that improve medication access and align with population health initiatives. Previously she served as system vice president of ambulatory pharmacy services at Boston-based Tufts Medicine and held leadership roles including president and legislative chair of the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists and inaugural chair of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners. She is actively engaged in national advocacy, research and education.
Binita Patel, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Memorial Hermann Health System (Houston). Dr. Patel has served as vice president of pharmacy services at Memorial Hermann since 2019, joining the system from AmerisourceBergen where she served as a managing director. She also served as director of ambulatory care and retail pharmacy at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Dr. Patel specializes in healthcare management and was named a TMC Healthcare Hero by the Houston-based Texas Medical Center in 2021. She was also dubbed a “woman who means business” by the Houston Business Journal.
Robert Pellechio. Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at RWJBarnabas Health (West Orange, N.J.). Mr. Pellechio was named senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer of RWJBarnabas in 2022. Previously, he served as vice president of Barnabas Health for 20 years. In his current role, he provides strategic leadership for the 25 divisions within the system’s pharmacy enterprise. He has more than 35 years of experience in healthcare, hospital administration, supply chain and pharmacy. Mr. Pellechio also has oversight over the system’s 340B functions as well as pharmaceutical contracting, which includes purchases of over $450 million in products and supplies. Adam D. Porath, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy at Renown Health (Reno, Nev.). Appointed to the attorney general’s statewide opioid partnership and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists’ council on public policy, Dr. Porath drives innovation within Nevada and nationwide. Board member for the state board of pharmacy and a commissioner on the Nevada State Patient Protection Commission, he helped pass collaborative drug therapy management legislation and expand the pharmacy practice act. At Renown Health, Nevada’s only integrated academic health system, his team of board-certified pharmacists and pharmacy technicians manage medications across three outpatient retail pharmacies, specialty and mail order pharmacies, three in-patient pharmacies and ambulatory pharmacotherapy programs. Ryan Roux, PharmD. Vice President for the Division of Pharmacy at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). Dr. Roux leads pharmacy services for MD Anderson Cancer Center, overseeing inpatient, ambulatory, specialty surgery and retail pharmacy operations across multiple facilities. His leadership has produced a number of systemwide advancements, including specialty pharmacy accreditation, the launch of a medication transitions of care team, and the development of a post graduate year one and two health system pharmacy administration residency. Dr. Roux also initiated the “Medication Match” program, a prescription drug donation initiative that reduces waste and improves patient access to life-saving therapies. He has strengthened quality oversight through a divisionwide governance committee and led safe handling improvements for investigational agents. Nationally recognized for leadership and innovation, Dr. Roux serves as chair of the Vizient pharmacy executive committee and has held prominent roles with state pharmacy societies and advisory boards.
Sandra Salverson, PharmD. Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Services at OSF HealthCare (Peoria, Ill.). Dr. Salverson drives transformational initiatives that improve patient outcomes and operational performance. She oversees 530 employees across the 17-hospital ministry, spanning tertiary medical centers, rural hospitals, a specialty pharmacy, community pharmacies and home infusion. In fiscal year 2024, the system dispensed nearly 11 million doses of medication and filled 325,000 prescriptions. Her efforts have led to major achievements, including establishing an integrated distribution center that, combined with a systemwide perpetual inventory system, eliminated $2.1 million in excess inventory across 400 medical group clinics within six months. Within two years, the OSF Specialty Pharmacy achieved URAC accreditation and increased revenue by 22.5%. Dr. Salverson’s leadership also earned recognition from the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacy for integrated telepharmacy services and led to OSF HealthCare being designated as a center of excellence in medication-use safety by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ pharmacy practice accreditation commission. With executive oversight of clinical, financial and quality performance, she ensures patients receive the right medication, in the right setting, at the right cost.
Wafa Samara, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at City of Hope (Duarte, Calif.). Dr. Samara is City of Hope vice president and chief pharmacy officer, a role she has held since June 2020. Beforehand, she was chief of pharmacy service for the National Institutes of Health. She has also served as chief of pharmacy for VA Central California Health Care System in Fresno, Calif. She is passionate about using pharmacy to address health disparities and improve diversity, equity and inclusion across the care continuum.
Denise Scarpelli, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer for UChicago Medicine. Dr. Scarpelli leads pharmacy operations for UChicago Medicine with a focus on strategic alignment, workforce development and enhanced pharmaceutical care. Her collaborative leadership style bridges internal clinical teams with external vendors to expand and elevate systemwide pharmacy services. In 2023, she oversaw the opening of a new outpatient pharmacy facility, doubling daily prescription volumes and launching a home-delivery service. Her department received the American Society of Health System Pharmacists’ prestigious center of excellence designation in medication-use safety, one of only four nationwide. As chair of the Illinois Board of Pharmacy, Dr. Scarpelli influences statewide policy as well.
Rita Shane, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer for Cedars-Sinai Health System (Los Angeles). Dr. Shane first joined Cedars-Sinai in 1978 and has risen through the ranks to lead the department. Her accomplishments include co-authoring legislation that has been passed into law surrounding the safe delivery of prescription medications and winning the the Institute for Safe Medication Practices’ a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, which is the group’s highest honor. Her research has improved pharmacy practice and has led to reduced medication errors by emergency department pharmacists.
Justin Simon, PharmD. System Director of Pharmacy at Christus Health (Irving, Texas). Mr. Simon has served as Christus Health’s system pharmacy director since 2020, originally joining the system as corporate director of pharmacy in 2019. Before that, he spent five years at Florida Hospital, which is now Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth, and eight years at CVS Health, where he worked as a pharmacy intern and pharmacist. Mr. Simon specializes in community and team building in the workplace. He is also trained in vaccine administration.
Deborah “Debbie” Simonson, PharmD. Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer of Ochsner Health (New Orleans). With a career at Ochsner Health spanning over four decades, Dr. Simonson has become one of the most trusted and forward-thinking leaders in system pharmacy care. She brings a hands-on, collaborative approach to solving access issues and aligning pharmacy with systemwide priorities. Notably, she has implemented a refill center that centralized prescription requests, significantly increasing provider capacity and improving patient care continuity. In response to nursing shortages, she strategically deployed pharmacists into inpatient and clinic settings, easing operational strain while enhancing medication delivery. Dr. Simonson’s work directly supports the functioning of the 46-hospital system, giving physicians thousands of hours back in their day and freeing up time for direct patient care.
Jenny Smith, PharmD. Vice President of Pharmacy Services at BJC HealthCare (St. Louis). Dr. Smith has played an integral role in pharmacy management at BJC since 2011, when she first became the manager of clinical services at the health system’s flagship hospital. In her role, Dr. Smith has contributed to multiple research projects and publications. She leads BJC’s pharmacy strategy and has more than 25 years of clinical experience.
Kim Spencer, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at SSM Health (St. Louis). Brandi Strader, PharmD. System Director of Pharmacy for Hospital Sisters Health System (Springfield, Ill.). Since taking on the system pharmacy leadership role at Hospital Sisters Health System in 2023, Dr. Strader has implemented a streamlined structure that enabled rapid standardization and systemwide efficiency. Her career journey at HSHS began in 2012 when she joined as a staff pharmacist, and she has steadily risen through the ranks to become a pharmacy leader. Cedric Terrell, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at University of California Health (Oakland, Calif.). Dr. Terrell has served University of California Health as chief pharmacy officer since October 2023. He brings a wealth of experience as a pharmacy executive to the role, having served as chief pharmacy officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and vice president of pharmacy at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health. In his role at Novant, he was recognized as one of the top 100 executive leaders under 50 by Diversity MBA Media. In his current role at University of California Health, Dr. Terrell is responsible for strategizing with other c-suite executives and running the pharmacy operations at four health centers, six children’s hospitals, and 20 health professional schools.
Jeff Thiel, PharmD. System Vice President of Pharmacy for Endeavor Health (Evanston, Ill.). Dr. Thiel has spent over 15 years rising through the pharmacy leadership ranks at Endeavor Health, culminating in his current role overseeing systemwide pharmacy services. As the residency program director for postgraduate year two health system pharmacy administration, he actively cultivates leadership in future pharmacy professionals. His long-standing commitment to innovation helped Endeavor achieve top Epic “gold stars” in genomics and rank 19th nationally on Gartner’s “Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25” for 2024. Dr. Thiel was also a key player in the organization’s brand transformation from NorthShore–Edward-Elmhurst Health to Endeavor Health. Thanks to his previous leadership roles across various Endeavor hospitals, he brings deep operational fluency within diverse care environments.
Jennifer Tryon, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for Henry Ford Health System (Detroit). Dr. Tryon joined Henry Ford Health System as chief pharmacy officer in 2021, following a five-year tenure in the same role at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Health. She leads the system’s inpatient, outpatient and health plan pharmacy teams. She is also responsible for the strategic direction, integration and evaluation of the integrated network’s pharmacy programs. Her role directly impacts the safety and quality of the care patients receive.
Misty Vo, PharmD. Director of Pharmacy at Valleywise Health (Phoenix). As director of pharmacy, Dr. Vo led the successful transition of inpatient pharmacy services to the new Valleywise Health Medical Center in 2024, ensuring seamless operations on opening day of the 10-story facility. With her team, she designed the new centralized pharmacy starting in 2019, implementing cutting-edge technology like pneumatic tubes, dual carousels and a sterile compounding suite with advanced environmental controls. Under her leadership, a “meds to beds” program launched in 2024, delivering prescriptions directly to patients’ rooms with integrated telehealth counseling. Dr. Vo also oversees an extensive outpatient and retail pharmacy network, while managing Valleywise’s 340B program and residency training. She began her pharmacy career as a technician and has advanced to senior leadership thanks to her operational mastery and commitment to mentorship.
Michael Wascovich, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer and Vice President of Medication Management for Ascension (St. Louis). Dr. Wascovich leads one of the largest pharmacy networks in the U.S., overseeing medication strategy for more than 100 hospitals and 48 retail sites. As head of Ascension’s pharmacy services and Ascension Rx, he guides innovations that improve safety, quality and cost-efficiency across a vast care continuum. His efforts have enhanced both operational performance and patient outcomes through technology and supply chain optimization. He currently sits on the boards of the End Drug Shortage Alliance and Dispensary of Hope. Dr. Wascovich’s career prior to joining Ascension spanned military service, leadership at Cleveland Clinic and pharmacy innovation roles at Premier Inc.
Marva Williams-Lowe, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer for MUSC Health (Charleston, S.C.). Dr. Williams-Lowe was appointed as chief pharmacy officer for MUSC Health in May of 2022, following 29 years at Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth Health. She is responsible for overseeing all pharmacy services for the system. Along with the chief pharmacy officer role, she assumed the associate dean of clinical affairs title at the MUSC College of Pharmacy.
Bryan Yourich, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer at Duke University Health System (Durham, N.C.). Dr. Yourich serves as the chief pharmacy officer for Duke University Health System. He and his team, which comprises leadership, pharmacists, residents, technicians, learners and support staff, work collaboratively to provide patients with outstanding pharmacy services for inpatients, outpatients and research participants. One of his main priorities is ensuring quality enhancement and excellence across the system’s hospital beds and pharmacy locations.
Kenny Yu, PharmD. Senior Director of Pharmacy Services at NYU Langone Health (New York City). Dr. Yu provides executive leadership, builds strategy and coordinates all pharmacy services provided within NYU Langone. He guides the standardization of practices across all of the system’s pharmacy sites. He has helped to coordinate all pharmacy initiatives, working closely with pharmacy leaders at four hospital locations, investigational pharmacy, hospital-owned retail pharmacy, hospital-owned specialty pharmacy, stand-alone ED pharmacy and nine infusion center pharmacies. He also served as the inaugural director of the system’s 340B pharmacy services program, which rolled out in 2016.
