Here are three ways leaders can help employees who seem to be off their game:
1. Acknowledge your colleagues by finding time to swing by their desks for casual conversations or invite them for lunch or coffee. You can’t force them to disclose information if they are not ready, but making them feel comfortable is a good first step.
2. Validate the difficulties your team members are facing. Let them know that everyone struggles at work sometimes, and they are not the only ones facing challenges.
3. Plan a way to help your colleagues address their challenges. Do not allow the narrative to become mired in self-pity. Instead, come up with productive ways they can change their workplace narrative.
