3 tips to help CEOs improve motivational speaking

Leaders are expected to be excellent motivational speakers, but this is a skill that is not usually taught in a formal setting, according to the Harvard Business Review.

Listed below are three types of language leaders should incorporate to give effective pep talks or motivational speeches.

  1. Uncertainty-reducing language is essential to establishing exactly how people can achieve a goal through easily understandable instructions and expectations.
  2. Empathetic language helps speakers establish a connection with the people they’re speaking to and lets them know that you understand their challenges and are invested in their success.
  3. Meaning-making language lets people know why tasks are important and often includes stories that help illuminate the point.
