Study: Cancer Survivors Perceive Virtual Follow-up Visits Negatively

Breast cancer survivors rated a telephone- or Internet-based virtual visit as having a less favorable impact on cancer survival and cancer-related worries compared to in-person visits, according to a Journal of Clinical Oncology study.

Researchers surveyed breast cancer survivors to evaluate self-perceived impact of in-person and virtual follow-up visits on survival, worrying and cancer-related stress. The authors suggest additional research on virtual visits is needed to understand survivors' negative perceptions of this model.
