CFO Richard Davis: Educating the Public on the Vital Role of Hospitals

In 2008, the American Hospital Association named Richard Davis, CFO of The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., as its annual “Grassroots Champion” — an award that embodies his commitment to educating public officials on the major issues facing hospitals and their roles in communities.

Mr. Davis has championed hospitals’ causes for nearly two decades now and has been CFO of GWU Hospital since April 2001. He currently oversees all financial oversight of the hospital’s activities.

Mr. Davis first joined the hospital as an assistant controller in 1997 and was then promoted to controller in 2000. In those controller positions, he helped increase efficiency and productivity on the hospital’s books, as he was in charge of the conversion and implementation of several accounting measures.

Before joining GWU Hospital, he served as assistant controller, accounting manager and accountant at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, and he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from UNLV in 1993.
