Question: What are your top priorities today?
Ms. Meyer: It’s tough to narrow down, but if I had to choose I would say staffing and visibility. We must continue to ensure we retain talented staff. This is a tough market right now. Positive culture with ongoing development will continue to be crucial to retain the staff we want in our centers. From a revenue cycle perspective, [we need] greater visibility of our center’s performance indicators. Tracking leading indicators and having weekly and monthly discussions with your staff will allow you to proactively address issues that could result in negative outcomes.
Q: What are you most excited about for the future?
LM: Innovation for sure. In the revenue cycle space, the younger generations will expect better technology and less face-to-face interaction. ASC’s will need to work with their vendors to ensure they have the software platforms to meet this expectation. We are not completely there yet, there are still a lot of baby boomers out there, but within the next 10 to 15 years we need to be prepared.
