Why this tech-based primary care company limits physician appointments

To keep physicians happy while creating an appealing work environment, One Medical limits physicians to 16 patient visits a day, according to CNBC.

One Medical was founded in 2007 by physician-turned-entrepreneur Tom Lee, MD. The company offers on-demand care and mobile booking to patients through their employers. Google and SpaceX are among the companies that offer employees One Medical services, people familiar with the matter confirmed to CNBC.

To ease physicians' workdays, One Medical also developed its own EHR from the ground up. The records system is designed to help physicians manage patient relationships.

One Medical is now looking to add mental health and pediatric services, reports CNBC

Today, One Medical says 4,000 employers offer its services as a benefit. One Medical has 72 clinics in seven states, and the company is looking to expand rapidly. Along with opening new clinics, One Medical is working to partner with health systems in an effort to gain more patient referrals, CNBC reports.

Being founded by an entrepreneur, One Medical has many technology initiatives. The company has developed an app, Treat Me Now, that allows patients to get advice on whether they should see a physician or stay at home.
