Via Christi Patients Complain New EHR is Increasing Wait Times

Shortly after Wichita, Kan.-based Via Christi Health went live on a new electronic health record system, the organization began to receive complaints the new system was causing excessive wait times, according to a KSN report.

Health system officials are aware of the delays, which have caused some patients to wait hours for medical attention. "Since the implementation, we have had some challenges," Melissa Evraets, assistant chief nurse at Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph in Wichita, told KSN. "We have had some extended wait times in some areas, like our emergency department."

The health system is reportedly working to resolve the issues. "We needed to make sure we had a solid plan in place to support the implementation so that we can all work together in any of those calls that come in to collaboratively work together to come to resolution on the issues that we have," Mia Kaufman, senior director of healthcare informatics at Via Christi, told KSN.
