The health system will implement Epic at four hospitals on nine campuses.
At $700 million, this is the largest capital investment ever for UMass Memorial. “We are going all in,” Eric Dickson, MD, president and CEO of UMass Memorial, told The Boston Globe.
When deciding which EHR system to adopt, UMass Memorial had employees test out different platforms, and Dr. Dickson said the majority preferred Epic.
Dr. Dickson told The Boston Globe that even though Epic’s systems cost between 10 percent and 20 percent more than other products, UMass Memorial decided to move forward with Epic since “this is what our people wanted.”
