The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange released a brief with information on codes for telehealth services by individual healthcare providers.

The educational brief was developed by the WEDI Innovative Encounters Workgroup.

“As telehealth services increase, more and more providers will want to offer these services and they will need knowledge of the codes for these services,” the brief states.

WEDI recommends providers address several challenges for telehealth coding. A few of these challenges include the fact that definitions of telehealth services vary from state to state and the fact that there aren’t definitions to distinguish telehealth data generation from telehealth patient services.
