The Lubbock-based Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, the Texas Commission on State Emergency Communications and telemedicine solutions provider swyMed joined forces to improve rural healthcare, swyMed officials announced Oct. 24.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that a bill, which would expand telehealth services to Medicare stroke patients, would increase direct spending by $180 million over the 2018 to 2027 period.

Publix, a Lakeland, Fla.-based grocery store chain, is partnering with Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System to offer retail pharmacies at a number of BayCare's hospitals, as well as walk-in care centers and health screening stations at Publix stores.

Westerly (R.I.) Hospital connected with Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System's InSight Tele-ICU center to implement telemedicine capabilities in its intensive care unit, the hospital announced Sept. 25.
