The Senate bill, nicknamed the CHRONIC Care Act, aims to improve care for Medicare beneficiaries through policies related to Medicare Advantage, ACOs and telehealth reimbursement.
Here are four things to know about the CBO’s telehealth estimates.
1. Increasing MA enrollees’ access to telehealth would save $80 million in direct spending
2. Providing ACOs the ability to expand telehealth would cost $50 million in direct spending
3. Expanding the use of telehealth for individuals with stroke is the most expensive proposal, representing a $180 million increase in federal spending
4. The majority of costs would be offset by eliminating funding for the Medicare Improvement Fund, which would save $370 million in direct spending.
