The report includes data from case studies and surveys conducted online within the United States by Harris Poll on behalf of American Well.
The following statistics are based on the surveys polling 2,100 adults in from Aug. 19 to Aug. 23, 2016:
• Sixty-six percent of Americans are willing to see a physician over video.
• Seventy-two percent of parents with children under 18 years are willing to see a physician over video.
• Fifty-three percent of Americans over the age of 65 years are willing to see a physician over video.
• Around 69 percent of Americans believe that videoconferencing leads physicians to make more accurate diagnoses, compared to 26 percent of Americans who believe the same about diagnoses via the telephone.
• Only 5 percent believe diagnoses via email are accurate.
