Surescripts offers EHR vendors free access to National Record Locator Service

Surescripts, a health information network, plans to offer EHR software vendors free access to its National Record Locator Service until 2019. The ability to locate and exchange patient records using the NRLS can help care providers capture a more complete view of a patient’s medical history.

Surescripts operates within the nationwide Carequality Interoperability Framework, and its NRLS went live this year with 140 million patients. A number of EHR vendors, including Aprima, eClinicalWorks, Epic, Greenway Health and NextGen Healthcare, have agreed to offer the NRLS capability to their users.

“We are committed to working with all vendors to accelerate the adoption of record locator and exchange, while adding valuable new services to make meaningful health information available to providers,” said Tom Skelton, CEO of Surescripts.
