Study: How mHealth is Improving Population Health Worldwide

Mobile health technology has been proven useful in monitoring and improving population health around the world, according to a study in the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics.

Researchers analyzed three mHealth programs currently in place: the Mobile Technology for Community Health initiative in Ghana focused on maternal health, the EpiSurveyor project that captures population health data from around the world and Enhancing Nurses Access for Care Quality and Knowledge through Technology in the Caribbean that facilitates remote patient monitoring.

“These global initiatives are indeed making a difference and will continue to incrementally and collectively contribute. The possibilities speak for themselves, however, governments, funders, users, and other stakeholders must continue to be involved and integrated in order to inject the vitality factor necessary to sustain and maximize these potentials,” said the study’s authors.
