Researchers collected data on all e-consultations provided by 59 Canadian primary care physicians over the study period (April 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012), including a close-out survey from patients.
Results showed 95 percent of physicians felt the e-consultations were valuable, and 92 percent thought the service was valuable to the patient. In 43 percent of the cases examined, an in-person visit was originally scheduled but avoided through e-consultation.
