The service, called teleMED Assist, costs $1 per day and allows seniors to access medical services through an app on their smartphones. The patients can speak or videoconference with qualified medical practitioners, who can make referrals or write prescriptions, according to Venture Beat.
The service is available through the Seniors Wireless app. There is no set time limit on how many times members can access the service. However, there are different sizes of data packages, ranging from $30 for unlimited calling, SMS and 500MB of data per month to $5 for 250MB of data per month, according to the report.
The service aims to prevent costly ED visits for seniors as the population ages and demands increase on the healthcare system, according to the report.
