Rush University Medical Center transitions to Google Cloud: 3 notes

Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center migrated to Google Cloud's platform to expand access to patients' unstructured health data.

Three notes:

1. Google and Rush University Medical Center partnered with Maven Wave, a digital technology firm, to develop a solution within the cloud that connects it to unstructured data from the hospital's EHR system.

2. The cloud platform uses natural language processing and machine learning to perform clinical documentation functions such as managing early detection cancer screenings for at-risk patients and checking that patients undergo pre-surgical physicals.

3.The hospital's implementation of Google Cloud will help improve patient outcomes while decreasing costs, Rush University Medical Center Senior Vice President and CIO Shafiq Rab, MD, said in a news release.

"To achieve that goal, the most important piece of the puzzle is information," Dr. Rab said. "This partnership with Maven Wave and Google Cloud allows us to develop that deep, actionable insight and provide the right information to the right person at every turn."
