Rhode Island Passes Legislation to Facilitate e-Prescribing

The Rhode Island General Assembly has passed legislation aiming to increase e-prescribing in the state by allowing electronic transmission of prescriptions for medications on controlled substance schedules.

The legislation, currently headed for the governor’s desk, would require the state’s Department of Health to develop rules and regulations for an electronic transmission system for these prescriptions.
