The new platform will bring together Philips’ health IT expertise and Salesforce.com’s cloud computing abilities to create a common repository for medical devices and other data, giving providers access to a larger swath of data and empowering patients to take a more active role in their own care.
“With this strategic alliance, Philips is making great strides to deliver real-time, digital healthcare solutions,” said Frans van Houten, CEO of Philips, in the news release. “Healthcare data exists in many different forms and in many different systems today. Together with Salesforce.com, we have a tremendous opportunity to reshape and optimize the way healthcare is delivered and provide better access to data across the continuum of care.”
Two of the first apps to be launched on the platform, Philips eCareCoordinator and Philips eCareCompanion, will aid remote monitoring for patients with chronic conditions.
