Philips acquires TomTech image analysis software

Amsterdam-based Royal Philips entered into an agreement to acquire TomTec Imaging Systems GmbH, an intelligent image analysis software provider focused on diagnostic ultrasound.

The Munich, Germany-based clinical applications and imaging software company provides diagnostic and analysis applications for cardiology, radiology and obstetrics and gynecology. Its software is used by more than 20,000 physicians and 600 health facilities across the globe.

The TomTech acquisition will strengthen Philips’ cardiac ultrasound and obstetrics and gynecology business, according to the company. Upon completion of the transaction, TomTech and its more than 100 employees in Asia, Europe and the U.S. will become part of Philips’ Ultrasound Business Group.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
