Nokia’s digital health business includes activity trackers and smartwatches made up primarily from the 2016 acquisition of France’s Withings, a consumer electronics company. Other potential buyers include two French companies and one other non-European company.
The French government is pushing for a sale to a French company to bolster the country’s artificial intelligence presence. However, Google is also forging a path into France with a new AI research center and growing workforce.
Nokia told Wareable its strategic review is still underway, and it did not comment on the story.
