New Florida Bill Would Boost Use of Telemedicine

A bill recently filed in the Florida Senate would increase the use of telemedicine in the state by allowing video conferencing and other technologies to take the place of in-person physician visits, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Introduced by Athenia Joyner (D-Tampa), the bill includes a provision to prevent insurers from mandating in-person appointments if the same service can be rendered remotely, according to the report.

The bill also proposes similar modifications to the state’s Medicaid reimbursement structure, according to the report.
