The AI-powered chatbot is part of the company’s Healthcare NExT initiative, which aims to bring Microsoft’s experience with AI, cloud computing and technology development into the healthcare industry. The chatbot, which is trained on approved medical content, enables customers and patients to access healthcare information in a conversational manner.
For example, Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care, one of Microsoft’s partners in the project, deployed the chatbot under the name “Aurora Digital Concierge.” Patients are able to interact with the chatbot, which will suggest possible causes for their symptoms and recommend a type of specialist for them to schedule an appointment with.
Microsoft’s other partners in the project include Premera Blue Cross and Pittsburgh-based UPMC. Under the private preview option, new partners will be able to participate in the project after signing up on the company’s website.
