Memorial Hermann Health System data breach compromises 10k patients’ data

Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System is notifying patients of a security breach resulting in compromised data of 10,000 patients.

In July, the hospital learned of an employee accessing electronic medical records outside of the employee’s job duties between December 2007 and July 2014. The employee accessed information including names, addresses, medical record numbers, birth dates, health insurance information and some Social Security numbers. No financial information was compromised.

The employee’s access to medical records has been suspended.
