Last fall, Mayo Clinic initiated pilot testing of HealthSpot telehealth kiosks in a project called Mayo Clinic Health Connection. The kiosks are essentially portable physician offices that patients can enter and receive a video consultation from a Mayo Clinic physician. In the pilot project, the kiosks were placed on the hospital’s campus in Austin.
The hospital is expanding its offerings now to staff and dependents of Austin Public Schools.
“Austin Public Schools is excited to be working with Mayo Clinic Health System to provide convenient and readily-accessible health services for our staff and their families,” said David Krenz, superintendent of Austin Public Schools. “We believe this service will provide our employees and their families innovative healthcare from a world-class healthcare provider at lower costs, and in a timely manner.”
