The foundation is the philanthropic arm of Cox Enterprises, parent of telecommunications company Cox Communications.
A partnership between Lafayette General Health, St. Martin Parish Schools and Cox Communications, called Project Health, Education and Technology, gives students at St. Martin Parish public schools access to healthcare via telemedicine tools, including cameras, viewing monitors, EHRs and cloud-based software.
The partnership piloted a telemedicine program in 2015, connecting a remote elementary school in St. Martin Parish and a school-based health center. The funds will be used to further expand the program to benefit more schools and as many as 8,000 students.
