The study’s author, Steven H. Ginsberg, MD, associate professor of anesthesia at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, shared the results of the survey in an Anesthesiology News report.
Forty-eight percent of respondents — chairs of academic anesthesia departments in the U.S. — reported that insufficient support staff has affected resident education. Thirty percent said the shortage has affected patient safety.
