Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine is working with Epic to incorporate more “nudges” into the EHR to lead clinicians and patients to evidence-based choices for better health outcomes.
Leaders from Penn Medicine and Epic gathered recently in Philadelphia to discuss opportunities to improve and expand EHR nudges, which include default options, alerts and workflow tweaks, according to an April 6 blog post. Ideas included better automation, built-in experimentation, and tools to share learnings across health systems.
“There are not just tens, hundreds, or thousands of these evidence-based practice measures that we could implement or that we could test and ideate and develop new research around,” said Srinivas Sridhara, PhD, chief data and analytics officer at Penn Medicine, in the article. “A fundamental ask is: Help us go from 10 to 10,000.”
