MIT and Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham have launched a new seed program aimed at accelerating innovation in healthcare by funding collaborative research projects between the two institutions.
The MIT–MGB Seed Program, announced in a June 27 news release, will support joint efforts in areas like diagnostics, therapeutics and digital health tools. The initiative is backed by a philanthropic gift from Analog Devices and will fund about six projects per year for three years.
The goal, according to the news release, is to help bring scientific breakthroughs out of the lab and into clinical settings faster.
Teams selected for funding will also gain access to entrepreneurial training through MIT’s tough-tech accelerator, the Engine, which connects researchers with investors and industry experts.
The first round of projects is expected to launch in fall 2025. A joint review panel from both institutions will choose the recipients.
