HHS grants nearly $42M for health IT expansion at 49 health centers

HHS awarded almost $42 million to 49 U.S. health center controlled networks, which focus on enhancing technology used by healthcare providers and patients.

The funding will help support the expansion of health IT at HCCNs, which will in turn provide technology for 1,183 federally-funded health centers across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

“Improvements in information technology will enhance the patient and provider experience as health centers continue to deliver high quality primary care in underserved communities across the nation,” said George Sigounas, MD, administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration, according to a news release.

The HRSA provided the financial award through HHS.
