For the survey, EY asked 195 executives about their perceptions of how digital technologies will improve overall patient health and their plans for future digital initiatives. Fifty-one percent of respondents said they are working on digital initiatives to improve patient access and throughput, and 47 percent of executives said they have begun programs to capture patient experience metrics.
Here are the top benefits executives cited for pursuing digital initiatives:
1. Improved patient experience: 70 percent
2. Improved clinical outcomes: 58 percent
3. Improved customer relationships: 48 percent
Here are the top barriers respondents said stand in the way of digital initiatives:
1. Insufficient funding: 46 percent
2. Fear of the unknown: 35 percent
3. Privacy issues and concerns: 32 percent
