Hawaii Becomes 50th State to Launch Medicaid EHR Incentive Program

The State of Hawaii Department of Human Services has launched the state’s Medicaid electronic health record incentive program, allowing eligible hospitals to receive up to $5 million in federal funds over four years for adopting, implementing or upgrading EHRs and achieving meaningful use.

Unlike the Medicare incentive program, the Medicaid program is offered by U.S. states and territories. According to data from CMS, Hawaii will become the 50th state to launch its Medicaid EHR incentive program.
