The data set — called SyntheticMass — was developed by Mitre Corp., a nonprofit that operates federally funded research and development centers.
Mitre Corp. created Synthea, an open-source program that generates data on realistic — but fictional — Massachusetts residents. To ensure the SyntheticMass data is appropriate for research use, Synthea mirrors real population information in terms of demographics, disease burden, vaccinations, medical visits and social determinants.
The Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources-formatted data set will be publicly available to developers through Google Cloud’s application programming interfaces, including Cloud Healthcare API and Apigee Edge.
