EHRs / Interoperability

Physicians have been spending nearly three more hours a week on EHR documentation since the pandemic, highlighting the need for health systems to help lighten their digital loads, a new study found.

As UPMC is moving from 9 EHRs to Epic, CIO Ed McCallister said that the Pittsburgh-based health system is focused on managing the installation "to be as cost-effective as possible."

Signal, the provider-efficiency tracking tool by Epic Systems, offers various valuable applications, but it is not a reliable indicator for assessing EHR satisfaction or predicting clinician burnout, according to a KLAS report.

Excited about his company's partnership with Epic, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella traveled to the EHR vendor's headquarters in Verona, Wis., to talk about it in person, Isthmus reported Nov. 2.
