Catholic Health, based in Buffalo, N.Y., is restructuring how it supports its Epic EHR platform through a new partnership with healthcare IT consulting firm Nordic.
In a March 3 news release shared with Becker’s, the health system said Nordic will provide application managed services for Epic beginning June 1.
About 90 frontline associates currently support Epic across Catholic Health. Under the new model, those employees will either remain with the health system or transition to Nordic, with no job eliminations tied to the agreement, according to the release. Catholic Health’s IT leadership team will not change as part of the transition.
Employees who move to Nordic will continue supporting Catholic Health’s Epic system and will have access to expanded professional development opportunities, including remote work options.
The agreement comes as health systems nationwide face mounting financial and operational pressures. In the release, Catholic Health described the partnership as part of a broader strategy to strengthen support functions while allowing the organization to focus on patient care.
Nordic provides advisory, implementation, optimization and managed services to healthcare organizations. The firm is owned by Bon Secours Mercy Health, based in Cincinnati, a Catholic nonprofit health system.
