With the new EHR, the 225-bed hospital will be on the same records system as the other hospitals and clinics, which are part of Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health.
Prior to implementing Epic last weekend, Baptist Health Floyd’s medical facilities used four different EHR systems, which made it difficult to access and share patient information, Baptist Health Floyd President and Chief Medical Information Officer Dan Eichenberger, MD, said in a news release.
“Now, with the transition to Epic, providers and patients will have a smoother experience, reducing the chance for delayed, misplaced or misinterpreted information and less duplication of testing,” he said.
Baptist Health Floyd patients also now have access to Epic’s web-based patient portal MyChart, which allows users to message their providers, view their health information and schedule appointments, among other abilities.
A hospital spokesperson declined to disclose the specific details of the financial transaction.
