Med-PaLM 2 will be piloted by some of Google’s healthcare customers to see if it can be “safe, responsible and meaningful,” according to an April 13 press release from Google.
The AI-based tool can be used to answer medical questions.
Most recently, Med-PaLM 2 was found to have an 85 percent accuracy rate when it comes to answering medical questions.
In addition, Alan Karthikesalingam, MD, PhD, a research lead at Google Health, said the tech giant was also testing the tools’ answers against responses from physicians and clinicians to evaluate if its responses were factual, biased or could cause harm.
