Google launches new program to increase productivity as growth slows

As productivity at Google begins to slow, Sundar Pichai, CEO of parent company Alphabet, implemented a new program aimed at soliciting ideas from employees on how the company can improve efficiency, CNBC reported July 31.

The program, dubbed Simplicity Sprint, was introduced at an all-hands meeting July 27. The aim of the initiative is to crowdsource ideas for quicker product development.

Three things to know about the new program:

  1. Through Aug. 15, Google employees will be able to share their ideas through an internal survey that asks if management can reach out if they have follow-up questions.
  2. The initiative aims to get better results faster as the company is struggling with productivity.
  3. The initiative comes as Google reported a slowed revenue growth of 13 percent in the quarter from 62 percent a year earlier.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
