Mr. Hazen did say that he could see the usefulness of AI for streamlining administrative tasks. In August, HCA partnered with Google to use generative AI tools to document emergency room visits and accelerate nurse handoffs.
The 182-hospital system is using the technology at four of its hospitals.
“Fundamentally health care in our space will be people taking care of people. That being said, there are tremendous opportunities with the evolving platform of AI,” Mr. Hazen said. “We see a lot of opportunities for much better care because physicians can get information in a more effective way.”
