The stolen equipment, which officials learned about April 3, contained information from patients’ retinal imaging conducted by University of Utah Health specialists at University of Utah Hospital and Primary Children’s Hospital between July 1, 2014 and March 30, 2018.
Patients’ full or partial names, images of the retina and a medical reference number used to identify records within the hospital’s secured EHR may have been compromised. However, no Social Security numbers or financial information was involved. Additionally, hospital officials don’t have any reasons to believe the information has been misused.
The hospital mailed notices to affected patients June 1 and established a dedicated call center.
